BOB Rambler Jogging Stroller Review

Whether you’re out jogging in the park or taking a stroll around the local market, the BOB Rambler Stroller is definitely a perfect stroller for you. Why exhaust yourself carrying your baby when you can just use a stroller while casually enjoying the surroundings with your child seated safely right next to you. Thanks to its modern design the BOB Rambler is attractive and functional at the same time. With its 3 wheels, it is perfect at turning around narrow city corners or during relaxing nature walks.

The BOB Rambler Jogging Stroller will be a good companion for all your adventures

The BOB Rambler stroller is pretty much a toned-down version of the BOB Revolution Flex which enjoys some popularity. Compared to it, the BOB Rambler is more compact, doesn’t have quite as many features and its price is about 150 dollars lower. Kind of like a budget counterpart of the Flex. Alright, now let’s move on to discussing the differences.

BOB Rambler vs BOB Revolution Flex

Although it is technically possible to go jogging with it, its back wheels are slightly smaller compared to the Flex. The BOB Rambler’s seat is a bit narrower and a bit lower. The seat doesn’t have any mesh pockets on the inside, but that’s not really a big deal to be honest.

Unlike in the Flex, the handlebar on the BOB Rambler is actually not adjustable. And thanks to all those little differences, it also folds better, has lower price and weights three pounds less at 25 pounds (28.5 pounds for Flex).

Other than that, all the other features are still there, like big canopy, 75 pounds of weight capacity, recline system with a one hand strap, huge basket, two step folding, adjustable suspension, adjustable tracking of the front wheel, a runaway strap and one step brake.

It is also possible to convert it into a travel system, especially that it is compatible with majority of popular baby car seats. The BOB Rambler will make a perfect choice for more sporty parents without enough space to keep a bigger jogger like the Flex at home. If what you’re looking for is a slightly fancier model instead, with the same size but more features, you should check out Bumbleride Indie some time.

3 All Terrain Wheels

The BOB Rambler stroller comes with three twelve inch high impact wheels made of polymer that are able to face all kinds of different terrains. Its fully enclosed bearings will prevent you from getting stuck somewhere in the dirt, and its air-filled wheels will make pushing the stroller much easier for you. The swivel locking front wheel allows you to easily swivel around narrow corners or just lock it in place to make it more stable when going off-road or jogging. The adjustable tracking of the front wheel makes the alignment easy to adjust using a convenient knob included. With the foot activated parking brake, you can block both of the rear wheels in just one step.

Suspension

The mountain bike style suspension of the BOB Rambler will certainly provide your baby with a smooth ride. Thanks to the 3 inch suspension, no bump in the road could possibly wake your baby from their sleep and no terrain could be rough enough to ruin their pleasant rides.

Non-adjustable Handlebar

The BOB Rambler’s handlebar cannot be adjusted and it’s located at 39.5 inches from the ground level. It is also covered with a thick foam, which isn’t exactly the world’s most durable material.

Wrist Strap

This run-away strap attached to the handlebar provides additional security in the event of the stroller suddenly running away from you during your jogging routine. It can also double as a lock for a folded stroller, considering its lack of an automatic lock.

Spacious Seat

The BOB Rambler’s seat is 14.5 inches wide with a 18 inch seat back and measuring a total of 21 inches from top to bottom. It has a one hand recline with a strap system to operate it. Could be better, but still not too bad. Reclining it only requires one hand, but getting it back up requires two. The recline here is pretty deep, capable of accommodating children aged 3 months or older and weighting up to 75 pounds (which is probably until college. Just kidding).

I think it goes without saying that you shouldn’t bring your baby along for a jog until they’re at least nine months old. If you really need to put your child in a seat, it will be better to just use an infant insert, like the Summer Infant which is perfect for a stroller or a baby car seat. It offers extra support for your child to make them safe and comfortable.

The BOB Rambler’s seat is very comfy

After reclining the seat, you’ll see a big window in the back made of mesh. Considering the back of the seat is only 18 inches (so it’s one of the lower ones) it won’t be possible for your older kid to have a nap.

The seat’s padding is pretty nice and thick, the material it was made of is quite durable and easy to wash. And while we’re at it, in its most upright position the seat is pretty upright. Which I know some of the parents consider to be very important.

Five Point Harness

The BOB Rambler comes with an adjustable five point harness, just like most jogging strollers these days. One thing I really liked about the harness is that adjusting it doesn’t require re-threading it. The padding felt pretty comfy to me. There were no problems with the center release buckle, unlike some of the other strollers, where it feels more like a jigsaw element. Another nice thing was how you can attach the waist straps to the shoulder straps to save some time. The waist straps can also be easily adjusted by pulling on the two red rings that are there.

Storage In The Seat’s Back

I always need plenty of storage when taking my baby for a stroll, due to all that stuff I simply have to bring along. There are times when it literally feels like I have brought along half of my house when going to the park with the baby. Especially that my precious little darling, who by now is a toddler already, never wants to eat in the evening lately. That’s why I usually just take the entire dinner with me to the park, where I try to somehow feed her while she just keeps running around. There’s more! The seat’s back provides even more storage in form of a zipper pocket to keep smaller objects in.

Big Basket

You won’t have any trouble fitting a large bag of diapers and more in this basket. It can also be easily accessed from the back and from the sides as well. If that’s still not enough for you, you can always get yourself an universal stroller organizer to expand it. It will allow you to not only bring along your coffee, but also plenty of other things, like keys, wallet, cellphone, snacks, water bottle, toys, diapers and so on. You would be surprised how many things can fit in there.

Foot Brake

The parking brake can be found between the back wheels and it locks both of them in place. While it’s not that hard, you’d better not be wearing things like flip-flops. Because this brake was definitely not made with shoes in flip-flops in mind.

Easy Folding

The folding process isn’t any different from the one the Flex utilizes. Still no automatic lock, still no standing fold either. It is a 2 step process requiring both of your hands that also happens to be easy to fold and unfold, actually. Once folded, the stroller also required you to use a clip in order for it to be locked in place. On top of that, it cannot stand on its own after you fold it. The dimensions when folded are 38 inches in length by 24.5 inches in width by 14 inches in height, which actually make it a little bit more compact than the Flex. If you need it to get any more compact than that, just remove the back wheels and here you go.

Cons:

Price Tag

While the BOB Rambler does have its share of great features and is definitely the Mercedes of strollers, its price is also higher than other strollers of this kind. All the fancy features present in this stroller have an impact on its price, which may be well beyond many families’ budget.

Handle Bars

Another stroller from BOB, the 2016 Revolution Pro, comes with adjustable handlebars with nine different positions, which makes it very comfortable for tall and short parents alike. The BOB Rambler, on the other hand, only comes with one position, which can potentially cause some problems to taller or shorter parents.

Snacks And Drinks

There are strollers similar to this one with plenty of snack pockets and cup holders. The BOB Rambler, on the other hand, offers none of these things, so if you like having coffee while strolling with your baby, you’ll probably have to push the stroller with one hand while holding the coffee in another.

Is The BOB Rambler A Good Choice?

The BOB Rambler stands out with its unique design, which offers convenience, style and comfort. Thanks to its smooth wheels, it’s pretty easy to navigate around crowded streets and in terms of safety the stroller can offer a five point harness and sun protection. Thanks to its slim design, this stroller is pretty easy to maneuver around narrow spaces, and its lightweight frame allows it to weight mere 25 lbs. You can store this easily foldable stroller in tight spaces after removing the wheels. The seat with its comfortable padding provides children up to 75 lbs with protection, plus the BOB Rambler can work with majority of car seats, as long an a special baby car seat adapter is used. It’s a smooth, elegant stroller with plenty of additional features that you won’t find anywhere else. The BOB Rambler makes a perfect stroller for any family, thanks to offering style, comfort, luxury and functionality.

Where You Can Purchase It

Whenever I need to purchase a stroller, or any other baby item for that matter, I tend to go to Amazon.com. They tend to have the lowest prices, don’t charge sales tax, plus they offer free delivery and free returns. Isn’t that just brilliant?
